Editorial Policy

How CheckMatter develops, tests, sources, reviews, updates, and corrects calculators and practical guides.

Ownership and responsibility

CheckMatter was founded and is maintained by Ajit Naskar. His author profile states the work he performs and the professional credentials he does not claim. “CheckMatter Editorial Team” is a brand identity, not a person or professional qualification.

Purpose

We publish free calculators and plain-language guides for everyday finance, health, tax, date, math, and conversion questions. Results are educational estimates, not personalized professional advice.

Author and reviewer labels

The visible byline and structured-data author must identify the same real person. “Reviewed by” is used only after a named, appropriately qualified person has actually reviewed the page. Otherwise the page states its calculation/source check and that independent professional review is not claimed.

BMI, pregnancy, calorie/BMR, and water-intake content is frozen against substantive expansion until a qualified medical reviewer is available. Existing pages retain their sources, limitations, and an explicit medical-review status.

Calculator review process

  1. Define intent: identify the decision and inputs the tool is designed to support.
  2. State the method: publish the formula, assumptions, units, rounding, and important exclusions.
  3. Validate calculations: test representative, boundary, zero-rate, leap-date, reverse-mode, and invalid-input cases where applicable.
  4. Use appropriate sources: prefer regulators, government departments, standards bodies, recognized medical organizations, and primary research where a rule or health method matters.
  5. Explain limits: distinguish estimates from lender, tax, legal, clinical, or contractual results.
  6. Review together: check the engine, displayed formula, examples, sources, disclaimer, metadata, and schema as one page.

Automated assistance

Software and automated tools may assist drafting, calculation testing, link checking, or formatting. Publication still requires human review for clarity, formula alignment, source quality, limitations, and useful intent.

Independence and monetization

Advertising or affiliate relationships must not change a calculator result or source conclusion. Promotional links should be identifiable. We do not fabricate ratings, testimonials, awards, traffic figures, accuracy percentages, credentials, or endorsements.

Updates and corrections

High-impact finance, tax, and health pages are reviewed when the calculation method, regulation, or authoritative guidance changes. Verified material errors are corrected and the affected page’s reviewed date is updated. See the corrections policy or report a problem.
