Method and counting convention
The earlier date is the starting point. The calculator finds complete months using a clamped month anniversary: if that day does not exist in the target month, it uses the last day of that month. It then splits complete months into years and remaining months, and counts the remaining days. This avoids negative day values at month ends. Total elapsed days is calculated separately.
Dates are calculated at UTC midnight, so daylight-saving changes do not alter the date-only gap. The starting date is day zero; matching dates give a zero difference. Reversing the inputs gives the same magnitude and changes the earlier-input label.

Can I calculate age between a birth date and a future date?
Yes. Enter the birth date first and the selected date second. The result follows the counting convention above.
Why can two calculators show different months and days?
Month lengths vary, and tools can use different borrowing or anniversary conventions. Compare their methods as well as their total elapsed days. This calculator clamps month anniversaries to the last available day.
Are these legal-age or eligibility decisions?
No. This is a calendar utility, not a determination of legal age, eligibility or a deadline. Check the rule used by the relevant institution.
Are my dates sent to analytics?
The arithmetic runs in this browser. Calculator events contain the tool name and action, not the dates you enter or the result.

How to calculate age between a birth date and a chosen date
- For one person's age, enter their birth date in First birth date or starting date.
- Enter the date on which you want their age in Second birth date or age-as-of date. Use the date itself rather than assuming the tool always means today.
- Press Calculate age difference. Read the years, months and days, complete months and total elapsed days as separate ways of describing the same interval.
To compare two people's age gap, enter their two birth dates instead. The result then describes the gap between those birthdays, not either person's current age.
Why subtracting the birth years can give the wrong completed age

Although 2026 minus 2000 is 26, the birthday has not occurred in the first row. Complete years turn to 26 on November 5. These are calendar examples, not a decision about legal age or eligibility.
Check reversed inputs and matching dates
Reversing November 5, 2000 and November 4, 2026 keeps the magnitude at 25 years, 11 months, 30 days and 9,495 elapsed days. The Earlier input label becomes Second date. Identical dates return zero years, zero months and zero days, with Same date as the label. The calculator shows a chronological gap rather than a negative age.
Which result should I use?
- Years, months and days: a calendar description using the clamped-month convention explained above.
- Complete months: full month anniversaries, with the remaining days kept separate; this is not elapsed days divided by 30.
- Total elapsed days: the date gap with the earlier date as day zero. It is not an inclusive count of every calendar date touched.

The two birth dates are ordered chronologically, then compared in complete calendar years, months, and days. Total elapsed days are shown separately so month length and leap years are not flattened into an average month.
