For salaried income it applies a ₹75,000 standard deduction in the new regime or ₹50,000 in the old regime. Finance Bill 2026 states that individual tax rates remain unchanged for FY 2026-27.

Worked example

For ₹15 lakh annual salary under the new regime, the calculator deducts ₹75,000, estimates ₹93,750 income tax on ₹14.25 lakh taxable income, adds 4% cess, and returns an estimated total of ₹97,500.

What this calculator estimates

The estimate applies the selected regime and financial-year assumptions to taxable income. Actual liability can change with deductions, rebates, surcharge, cess, and income classification.

Formula and method

Estimated tax = sum of taxable income in each slab × that slab rate − eligible rebate + applicable surcharge and cess.

Methodology and assumptions

The calculator applies the selected regime and financial-year slab assumptions to the taxable income entered, then includes only the rebate, surcharge, and cess rules explicitly represented on the page. It does not prepare a return or validate income classification, residential status, deductions, exemptions, capital gains, TDS, or treaty treatment.
