Calculation result
Formula and calculation method
Work minutes = end time − start time + 1,440 for a next-day shift − unpaid break. Decimal hours = minutes ÷ 60. Weekly overtime = max(0, total hours − threshold). Gross pay = regular hours × rate + overtime × rate × multiplier.
Worked example
09:30 to 18:15 with a 45-minute unpaid break gives 8 hours. A 22:00 to 06:00 next-day shift with a 30-minute break gives 7.5 hours. Five 8-hour days total 40 hours; at ₹200/hour with a 40-hour threshold, estimated gross pay is ₹8,000.
Assumptions and limitations
Use 24-hour clock times. Overnight adds one calendar day; a shift can be at most 24 hours. No tax, paid-leave rules, daily overtime or labour-law eligibility is applied. Clock-time arithmetic does not adjust for daylight-saving transitions. Do not enter identifying payroll details.
